Membership @ The Studio

by We Did It Boys Studios

The Studio is a shared work & event space for digital creators who want to commit to human connection, stop working in isolation, and meet like-minded collaborators in New Paltz, NY. Operated & curated by artist & DJ, Ally Bell.

What do we mean by “digital creators?”

Designers • Illustrators • Content creators • Editors • Filmmakers • Writers • DJs / music producers • & more!
If you can do it on a laptop, tablet, or in a notebook, you’re in the right place.
If you use materials like clay or heavy paints, The Studio is not equipped for that at this time, but we can recommend other local orgs.

With a Membership @ The Studio you can…

  • Go from being isolated and uninspired to engaging directly with a space and community dedicated to human connection and creativity where you can meet people with similar goals and attitudes

  • Have a fun whimsical time while getting your work done

  • Gain flexibility in your schedule by having a place you know you can go work outside of home and have a place to meet clients, students, & creative partners

  • Take part in a supportive and encouraging collaborative atmosphere

  • Directly support a DIY community space, local artists, and help sustain a vision of being in touch with our personal creative practices to better connect with each other

What is The Studio?

The Studio is a shared work & event space for digital creators operated & curated by artist & DJ, Ally Bell who has been working and creating in New Paltz since 2007. The mission of The Studio is based in collaboration and the delight & intimacy of co-working together.

As digital creators, we often work in isolation glued to our screens. The Studio is here to emphasize human connection, especially during times of divide and further advancements of AI and non-human centered creative tech. We may still be utilizing our screens as tools but at least we’ve got each other in the flesh.

The Studio features a main shared workspace with movable tables and versatile wall space. There is also a quiet lounge & storage area in the back room with additional seating and a fridge/snack area.

How does Membership work?

Members have shared workspace access from 10am-10pm, 7 days a week, unless there is a scheduled event.
Members can also book the space before 10am for private access via lockbox. There will be a calendar members can refer to in order to see if there are events or private sessions scheduled.

Membership costs $200/mo with a 3-month minimum commitment & option to renew.

Once you apply, you will be contacted to see if it’s a good fit and will be sent payment link and contract. Membership amount caps at about 10 people to ensure the space is never overcrowded and to preserve an intimate atmosphere. You can expect folks to be coming and going, including the owner and any staff so all members are expected to coexist in the space respectfully.

The Studio also hosts events like classes and presentations that are open to the public and members are welcome to join any events. If you are a creator who sells or presents your work, membership includes wall space for display and opportunities to host events. This is a curated space so events are approved and co-hosted with the owner. This ensures the space runs smoothly and keeps the calendar from overcrowding to ensure members feel supported.

What people are saying about The Studio:

“I thought it was a great space with a welcoming atmosphere and a vibe that can be as silly or as productive as you need it to be! It felt comfortable and collaborative, like a study session at a friend's house!”

– Audrey B.

“I work from home and wanted a change of scenery to increase my productivity. Coffee shops tend to be too loud and the obligation to constantly be buying food or coffee while you’re using their space always lingers. The Studio is a super chill spot to get your work done without all of that. It’s generally quiet, with super fast WiFi, a clean bathroom, and plenty of space to spread out with your laptop. It’s not stuffy or snobby. Ally is super cool and often has something playing (quietly) on the projector :) Be sure to check out her art on display around the space!”

– Laura F.

“Living alone and having worked both in the creative sector & local small businesses my whole adult life, I’ve always wanted a place to go outside of my house. I’ve frequented coffee shops, bars, etc. & I’ve spent hundreds of dollars a month on consumption either by A. trying to connect with others or B. escaping mundane reality after an uninspiring and difficult day at my job.

Building this space and concept has refocused me and rededicated me, and I’m looking for people to join in that spirit and help continue this vision.”

This is for you if...

You are involved in a creative field – visual & media arts, music producing, writing, acting, drag, tarot, astrology, marketing, etc. etc. The Studio is more suited towards creatives who work on computers, in notebooks, on an easel / drawing board, or anything that can be relatively self-contained. You are actively interested in working in a communal atmosphere where brainstorming, support, and collaboration are encouraged.

This is NOT you for if you’re using materials that need lots of rinsing or ventilation like heavy paints or clay as the facilities do not have proper accommodations. This is also not for you if you intend to take meetings during shared hours, you may schedule private hours if meetings are part of your work flow.

More nice gossip about The Studio

“Wediditboys studio has been such a blessing for me. I'm a very easily distracted person so working from home with my cat and all of our toys/crafting options isn't exactly ideal for my productivity. I was able to get so much done at the studio. Co-working really helps me zone into what I need to do. The space is very comfortable with indoor/outdoor seating, plenty of outlets, desk space a plenty, and art/music/people that I could totally get into. Ally, the owner of this community space, is a freaking goddess too. She hooked me up with a charger, checked in on me after hearing an annoying zoom meeting I was on, offered coffee, and was happily doing her own work in the next room which really kept me on track. Not to mention it was completely affordable. I encourage anyone who needs to get out of their cave, socialize, and get work done with other community members to check it out.”
